Team Scotland Sport Team Managers Appointed for Birmingham 2022.
With just under 2 years to go until Birmingham 2022, Commonwealth Games Scotland and Scottish Volleyball are delighted to announce that Ben Philip will be the Team Manager for our beach volleyball teams at the Commonwealth Games in 2022. Ben was the lead for our sport already at the previous games in Australia in 2018, bringing to the table his experience and knowledge of the event.
About this extraordinary opportunity, Ben said: ” I am absolutely ecstatic to be given the opportunity of the role of Team Manager for Beach Volleyball for a second Games. Having the chance to work with the team at Scottish Volleyball was fantastic in the last cycle and I am confident it will be the same in the coming two years. I am looking forward to building on the success of the Gold Coast and to ensuring that the athletes have the best environment in which to excel.”
Elinor Middlemiss, Team Scotland Chef de Mission for Birmingham 2022 said: “The sport team managers play a vital role creating the best possible environment for athletes and staff from each sport to excel at the Games, as well as bringing them all together as one Team Scotland.
In a first for Team Scotland, all selected Team Managers will take part in a two year, personalised training and development programme which combines modules, webinars, e-learning resources, and peer learning. The programme, developed by Team Scotland in partnership with First Ascent and sportscotland, will cultivate knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours so each manager is highly confident, ready to deliver in their role and able to support athletes to perform to their potential in Birmingham.
Big congratulations to our own staff member Blair Pettigrew who has been appointed as Understudy Manager and will join the managers development programme alongside the 2022 Sport Team Managers.
Scottish Volleyball are really delighted with the new appointments and are looking forward to the Games in 2022.
