Scottish Volleyball will play host to the inaugural SCD Beach Volleyball Finals from 3rd to 5th June alongside the ever popular Scottish Open Volleyball Tournament, which celebrates it’s 30th tournament this year.
With the recent news of Beach Volleyball’s involvement in the 2018 Commonwealth Games, the SCD Zonal Events have allowed our athletes to have a platform in which to compete on the international stage close to home with the added bonus of much needed FIVB Ranking Points.
The qualification process for the Gold Coast games has not been announced yet, but the athletes will need exposed to international level competition over a short period of time while picking up those points which can help move them through the CEV and FIVB ranking lists.
Next weekend is going to be a fantastic weekend of volleyball with the SOVT providing a platform for our athletes to compete in front of over 1000 spectators, but also give the spectators a real feel of the atmosphere that Beach Volleyball can bring to the SOVT party.
We welcome back successful pairings from the Round 4 of the CEV Continental Cup Lynne Beattie and Mel Coutts. They have a busy summer ahead and will be hoping to take maximum points which will help them potentially make some main draws at the CEV and FIVB ranking events they have entered. Hot on their heels are their team mates from Round 3, Shauna Miedzybrodzki and Anneka Hastings. This pair have aspirations of making it to Gold Coast also, so this is going to be a fantastic opportunity to see a lot of the 12 competing teams fighting it out for the Gold Medal.
In the Men’s draw, successful pairing Seain Cook and Robin Miedzybrodzki will be going all out to take on their international opponents on the Perth sand. Seain a local hero from Perth, will be heavily supported by his family and other local fans trying to elevate them to the gold medal and valuable ranking points for their upcoming trips to Baden and Vaduz for CEV Satellites.
Scotland is happy to show the depth they now have in both Beach National Team squads with more players than ever been given the opportunity to represent their country in both genders at this tournament.

Saturday 4th June – Preliminary Matches (Pool Play), Evening – Classification Matches
