The Broughty Ferry leg of the Scottish Beach Volleyball Tour took place on Saturday July 18.
Very windy conditions, with gusts topping 40mph, made play challenging. Players adopted a variety of service strategies, the most common being an underarm serve with topspin.
In the women’s contest Agata Zaremba, teaming up with fellow Pole Agnieszka Lukaszewicz, overcame her old foes Catherine Smy and Lilian Lieber to finish first.
The men’s side of the competition saw some very close games indeed. Despite the strong wind players kept the ball low and under control, and many games saw a lot of long rallies.
The final was an all-Polish affair, with Konrad Krawczyk and Lenard Sobieracki beating Mariusz Chudzik and Jaroslav Paso in two sets to secure victory.
Thanks to Colin Paterson, Konrad Karwczyk, Petr Kolomaznik, Peter Aitchison and Jamie Salvin for helping set up the tournament.
