Jennifer brings to this role a wealth of experience both as a player and a coach. Her proven determination to develop volleyball and her skilled background in teaching provides Jennifer with the right foundation for success in this role. I as CEO, all the staff and Board wish Jennifer a fantastic time with us and we look forward to work with Jennifer in the years to come”

Brief synopsis from Jennifer Thom:
I have been involved in volleyball for many years. I started playing at Queensferry High School and then “Team Edinburgh”. I played in the Junior National programme and then successfully moved onto the Senior National Team. In 2007 I relocated to Sheffield to be part of the GB team training full-time in the Olympic programme. After three years I went on to play professionally in both Germany and Switzerland, which also included junior coaching in two very different European countries. I have had some amazing opportunities playing for GB and from playing abroad, and hope to bring this experience back to my new role in Scotland.
I have now returned to play for City of Edinburgh VC as well as the Senior Women’s National Team. This summer I have also had the opportunity to play in some of the most wonderful beaches throughout Scotland, in the Scottish Beach tour. I am also a qualified Secondary School Teacher and I have teaching experience in both Scotland and England, having recently completed a year at Larbert High School.
“I am very grateful to be given the job as a Regional Development Officer and I am excited to get started in the role. I am looking forward to getting to know, work with and develop clubs, players, officials and volunteers. My main job remit is to support the Association through membership increase, junior development, club organisation and delivery and to make sure the SVA reaches its aims and objectives set out in the Bigger, Better, Stronger Strategic Plan 2013-17”
