We are delighted to announce the appointment of Simon Loftus to the position of Coaching Manager within the Association.
Margaret Ann Fleming said of Simon’s appointment “It is an absolute pleasure to have Simon with us as a team player of the Scottish Volleyball office. I personally have known Simon for many years and know that he is extremely well respected and admired within the volleyball community and shall bring with him a wealth of experience, enthusiasm and skill”
Simon is already well known to Scottish Volleyball as he currently coaches the Senior Men’s National Team. He returns to Scotland after spending the last season in Sweden coaching Ljungby VK in the Swedish Elite League and the previous six years with Leeds Carnegie in England, he was also part of the London 2012 Games as Assistant Coach to Team GB’s Men’s Volleyball Team. Simon brings a wealth of coaching and managerial experience to
the post having been a professional coach for seven years and worked in Local Authorities and with sportscotland. Simon also has personal experience of the SVA and FIVB coach education system having gone through several coaching courses before becoming a Staff Tutor.
Simon commented, “It is great to be back working in Scotland and I hope to be able to continue the great work done by Thomas Dowens over the last few years. This role gives me the opportunity to promote the role of coaches and facilitate in their development, which is important to me, as I have had some fantastic experiences as a coach and I been very fortunate to have worked with many great coaches and coach educators throughout my career and I hope other coaches get the same opportunities”.
