There was a great turn-out for the 2nd school volleyball festival of the 2012-13 season. Schools from the North, East and West were all represented in the 200 participants who had descended on Grangemouth Sports Complex for a full day of volleyball activity.
This festival was for S2/3 but the standard of volleyball was very high and the kids were certainly enjoying the competition. It was great to see the inclusion of Kinross High School into the Grangemouth festival for the first time.
It was Belmont Academy who edge out as victors in the boys competition despite playing in a top pool with no less than 4 Kyle academy teams. The girls group was very competitive with four different schools in the top pool with the girls from Kyle Academy winning the pool.
However, the highlight of the day had to be the standard of play and enjoyment in the ‘lower’ pools with all teams giving their all and celebrating every point that they won. Well done and congratulations to all teams who took part in the festival.
A great credit has to go to the teachers and coaches for their continued great work in providing these opportunities for their pupils. Thanks also to festival organiser Martyn Johnstone.
The next Festival takes place on 7th February and Drumbrae Leisure Centre, Edinburgh. This festival will be for P7/S1 level.
