The UK School Games Programme normally runs through the Summer months with the actual event taking place over the first weekend in September. This year the event is in London…. the venue for the 2012 Olympic Games……in August…..so the UKSG Programme has to shift!
The event will now take place from the 6th – 9th of May 2012….so the selection and development programme has to take place from now until the end of April…..and we agree it’s all a bit of a rush….but it is achievable.
Scotland will still field four teams in the competition;
• Scotland West and South Boys
• Scotland West and South Girls
• Scotland East and North Boys
• Scotland East and North Girls
and this advert is designed to encourage you to sign up for the programme. You do not have to be a high level player to be nominated to attend the development sessions………To be nominated you simply have to be a sports enthusiast, you have to be committed to getting better, you have to be willing to listen to, and work with, the coaches, and you have to be ambitious…. If this describes you then why not sign up for the 2012 programme. You can nominate yourself for the sessions, or your parents can nominate you, or your volleyball coach, or your PE teacher, there’s lots of ways of signing up.
The dates for the 2012 practice programme are;
• Sunday 22nd January
• Sunday 12th February
• Sunday 19th February
• Sunday 18th March
• Sunday 22nd April
(West & South Girls will train 4th March instead)
The key thing is for you to get along to the first of the practice sessions;
Scotland East and North (boys and girls) will be a Linlithgow Academy from 12.00 – 17.00
Scotland West and South Girls will be at Marr College from 10.00 – 16.00
Scotland West and South Boys will be at Coltness HS from 10.00 – 16.00
For all competing Home Nations: all competitors MUST be Under 17 for the Boys Competition and Under 16 for the Girls Competition on the 1st September at the start of the competitive season’
