Scottish Volleyball Office Update

With the arrival of Sarah Jankowitz as High-Performance Beach Head Coach and Programme Manager, the interim lead Blair Pettigrew will revert to his role as Regional Development and Pathways Officer for the West.

It is with mixed emotions that we also inform you that our Regional Development and Clubs Officer for the East, Veronica Rusich is leaving her position with us. As much as we are disappointed to see such a valuable member of staff leave, we are delighted that she is off to work in an exciting new role, as CEV’s Beach Project Co-ordinator, in Luxembourg.

Anti-Doping

During her time at Scottish Volleyball, Veronica had taken on the responsibility of leading compliance and education for anti-doping across the organisation with help from our Board representative Sandy Steel. Following her new opportunity, Blair Pettigrew will now be the staff lead for anti-doping going forward. For any queries or concerns regarding anti-doping, please continue to use the contact email  antidoping@scottishvolleyball.org

New Opportunities

The advert and recruitment for a newly created Head of Development post will be published in the coming weeks. This exciting addition to the Scottish Volleyball workforce has been made possible by the investment from our partners sportscotland as part of our “We Are Volleyball” strategic plan.

The Regional Development Officer East role shall be advertised in the new fiscal year.

Save the Date

We are delighted to announce a members’ meeting on June 22nd, 2024, with the venue to be confirmed. This is the second iteration of our annual commitment to keep an open line of communication with the membership base.

As the tenure of some of our Board positions concludes, this meeting will also serve as a quorum to appoint new members to the Board. We have been incredibly privileged to have such experienced and committed Board members who have been able to serve us for the length of time that they have. However, with several of our Board now reaching their maximum length of service, the meeting will present an exciting opportunity to appoint new individuals to the Board with their own rich experience and passion for the sport.

Board positions will be advertised through our website, however for positions such as President and Finance, a vote from the members is required. More information on positions and the process for the election of Board Directors, as well as location for the meeting with be provided shortly.

Cup Finals

Just a reminder to all members that this year’s Cup Finals are being held at the Pleasance Sport Complex and Gym in Edinburgh between Thursday 18th and Sunday 21st April this year on our brand-new Taraflex. We are working hard to make some extra special additions to the event this year which as always includes the Cup, Plate, and Schools finals.
