Scottish Volleyball and UK Beach Tour are disappointed to announce that the UKBT Scottish Grand Slam, due to take place on the 8th and 9th of July in Edinburgh, will no longer be going ahead. Due to reductions in funding from the local authority, and the already busy competition season for Scottish Volleyball, the decision has been made to remove the competition from the UKBT calendar for the 2023-2024 season.
Both parties are disappointed to not have the return of the Scottish Grand Slam this year, which would have been the 3rd iteration of the event. The Grand Slam always draws an exciting crowd to the Portobello Promenade, to the benefit of UKBT and local businesses alike. Both Scottish Volleyball and UKBT are hopeful to bring the Grand Slam back to Scotland in 2024.
While the Grand Slam will not be taking place, the beach volleyball clubs in Scotland are continuing to host UKBT events, from 1 stars right up to the Scottish Open. Between them, Aurora Beach Volleyball Club, Edinburgh Beach Volleyball Club, St Andrews Beach Volleyball Club and West Coast Beach Volleyball Club are hosting 13 tournaments to get involved in throughout the summer.
