As we begin to finish and celebrate the end of season 2022/23 and begin Scottish Volleyball’s new membership season, 1st May 2023, the Board of Scottish Volleyball and staff would like to thank all members and clubs for their continued support of our sport.
These past few months Scottish Volleyball has been concluding several important pieces of governance and our indoor competitions. A major governance piece was the successful completion, with full compliance, of a four-year external audit from KPMG, a condition of sportscotland’s and Scottish Volleyball’s regulatory and legal requirements. We were also delighted to present our new four-year Strategic Plan “We Are Volleyball” at our members meeting at Inverclyde and showcase our National Cup Finals on the 14th-16th April in partnership with Edinburgh University – Congratulations to all clubs and players for what was a fabulous weekend.
An SV Board meeting was also held on the 12th of March with the SV CEO, SV Finance Director and SV Finance Manager presenting, and as part of this meeting, a projected organisational and operational budget which included an annual increase of 6-10% across all member, club, official and coaching memberships for season 2023/24, was ratified by the Board.
The Board and staff are very respectful and mindful that these increases come at a time when everyone is digging deep into their personal and club resources. We have endeavored to keep these increases for all members and clubs to an absolute minimum, however, similar to most members, we as a governing body are also currently experiencing and projecting significant increases in facility costs, events, competitions and programme delivery for 2023/24.
These next few months are packed with competitions and events both indoor and on the sand.
