Scottish Volleyball are delighted to announce the successful selection of Rachel Morrison and Ben McHardy for the Team Scotland 2022 Achieve Programme. Designed to develop young athletes into future sporting successes for upcoming games, the programme will give them the opportunity to experience a multi-game setting, whilst helping them develop a host of important and transferable skills.
The programme was first run in 2010 and has since seen a further 90 participants take part. Rachel and Ben are part of a 66 strong cohort, and will be supported by mentors from various impressive backgrounds to ensure they get the best from this opportunity.
Of the opportunity, Rachel said “It’s an incredible opportunity to get a behind the scenes experience of the games and find your feet before actually going to compete. I’m buzzing to get down there and soak in every second!”
And Ben had this to say “I am very grateful for this opportunity and I look forward to learning a lot from this great experience!”
Felipe, High Performance Beach coach, said “We’re very excited for Ben and Rachel to experience Birmingham through the lens of the Achieve program. They’ll be fortunate enough to dive into the environment of a multi-sport games and gain some perspective on the challenges and triumphs that come with representing your country at the Commonwealth Games. This is a key step to investing in our next generation of beach volleyball players, who will hopefully be representing Scotland in 4 years”
We at Scottish Volleyball wish them well on the programme!
