Excitement is building in the Scottish volleyball community as Scotland’s Beach Volleyball teams gear up to compete in the 2024 CEV Beach Nations Cup. With the tournament offering a pathway to the Paris 2024 Olympics, the stakes have never been higher for our nation’s finest players.
For the women’s division, Scotland will be sending two formidable pairs to Croatia, where they will face tough competition from Croatia, Ukraine, Portugal, Hungary, and Belgium. Lynne Beattie and Mhairi Wallace, along with Rachel Morrison and Katie Barbour, will be competing in Bibinje from May 10-12. Their journey to Croatia promises to be a challenging yet thrilling experience as they vie for victory against some of Europe’s top teams.
On the men’s side, Scotland’s teams are heading to Turkey, where they will battle it out against Turkey, Poland, Portugal, Romania, and Slovakia. Ross McKelvie and Jamie McHardy, along with David Mexson and Ben McHardy, are ready to showcase their skills and determination as they go head-to-head with formidable opponents. The men’s competition will take place in Balikesir from May 17-19.
Sarah Jankowitz, High-Performance Beach Head Coach and Programme Manager, expressed her confidence in Scotland’s teams, stating, “We have full faith in the abilities of these athletes to represent Scotland with pride and determination. They have shown tremendous commitment to their training and preparation, and we believe they have what it takes to compete at the highest level.”
As Scotland’s teams embark on their journey to the 2024 CEV Beach Nations Cup, they carry with them the hopes and dreams of a nation. Scottish volleyball fans will be eagerly following their progress, cheering them on every step of the way.
Once the preliminary phase concludes, the focus will shift to the Beach Nations Cup Finals in Jurmala, Latvia. Here, Pool Winners from 2023 and 2024 from across Europe will converge for a chance to secure their spot at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
