Scottish Volleyball are excited to announce their selections for the 2022’s CEV U20 Beach Volleyball European Championship which will be held in Izmir, Türkiye! Our High-Performance Beach Team took their time deliberating on their pairs but came to a decision over the weekend. Scotland will be represented by Murray Paterson and Matthew Allan in the men’s event and Lisa Waldie and Jessica Gillies in the women’s. All players already have experience of international competition after playing in the SCA Beach Zonal Event in Ayr two weeks ago. Matthew Allan also gained further experience on the world stage just last week, competing in the U22 Beach Volleyball Championship in the Netherlands.
The competition represents an exciting opportunity for our athletes to compete against pairs from across the continent. Our Beach Programme Manager, Felipe, had this to say: “I’m very excited for Jessica, Lisa, Matthew, and Murray to be representing Scotland this July in Türkiye. The future of high-performance beach volleyball in this country starts with this next generation, and it will be invaluable for these two teams to get the experience of a strong international competition.” Junior Beach Programme lead, Colin added “Our Scottish Juniors have been training hard on the sand and to have these new opportunities for them is brilliant. We look forward to the challenge.”
Everyone at Scottish Volleyball wishes the best of luck to our young pairs as they represent our country on the world stage.
