It’s been crazy to think that our volleyball world has been rocked for so long by Covid 19, however its safe to say that we have come back stronger on a domestic front. Our National league is back up and running and our cup competitions are under way. The only thing that has been missing is the National teams. We are delighted to say that this is no longer the case. After 21-month absence from any competition the men’s national team are about to get back to the court. And what better way to do this than to take on England.
After positive discussions and planning with Simon Loftus , England’s head coach, we are delighted to announce that the Men’s National team will travel down to Staffordshire University, Stoke-on-Trent, for a two-day joint training camp and scrimmage matches on the 29th and 30th of December. Scottish head coach Ally Jack and his staff have been working with Scottish Volleyball to get the National team safely back into action. This camp and scrimmage will allow Coach Jack to see the hard work that the players have put in over the weeks of preparation in a competitive environment.
Coach Jack said:
“It’s been a long 21 months, but we are delighted to be back on court with the squad. We’ve had a couple of excellent training weekends, but we are looking forward to the challenge of competing with and against players we don’t play every week. The trip will be a little different with the added covid mitigations but it’s also a chance to get used to being in this type of regimented environment whilst retaining our focus on performance.”
Coach jack and the staff have named a 15-man squad for this trip, and he is looking forward to the challenge. We wish them all the luck as they take to the competitive arena once again.
