Dear club, member, player, coach, official and volunteer,
I hope this message finds you all healthy, well, safe and coping with this continued “lockdown” situation.
Through this difficult and challenging time for each and everyone of us I want to say how much I greatly appreciate your continued support of our fabulous sport. The video message posted along with this written communication is to allow you an oversight of some of the decisions which have been taken these past few weeks and to share my own personal feelings in this time of change and uncertainty.
Season 2019/20 is now concluded for the indoor players. As a sport we had hoped to finish and complete playing those league and cup/plate matches which were interrupted by this COVID-19 Pandemic in March of this year but as time moves on and restrictions are continuing to be enforced, Scottish Volleyball agreed (with a heavy heart) to draw a line under this season’s indoor competitions and focus now on how to get volleyball up and running again safely and as soon as possible.
All of us are aware that returning to sport, to our previous lives and to social activity is going to be managed with baby steps and controlled from the UK and Scottish Governments. Scottish Volleyball is no different in this respect than to any other business however as a team sport we do face challenges in relation to facilities, social distancing, ball contact, officiating and player contact. We need to look at new and exciting ways to play our sport whilst respecting the need to keep everyone we love safe and ensure that our sport leads the way on how to be creative.
I wish to congratulate all teams, players, clubs and supporters on another fabulous season, even if it has been curtailed, and ask that we all look forward and work together to make sure we are ready to play once more when the time is right for us to do so.
Please find attached here to the final results and standings (with explanation) to this 2019/20 season.
Please take care and stay safe,
Kindest regards
Margaret Ann Fleming
