Volleyball for Scotland in conjunction with the Scottish Volleyball Association and a number of regional partners are delighted to announce that the new branded recreational volleyball programme is continuing to expand. The programme developed and piloted by the West Regional Development Officer Blair Pettigrew is designed at bringing players back to the sport whilst offering an opportunity for those new to the sport.
Blair highlighted the diverse background of current participants “it’s still early days for the programme but its great to see players of all ages and backgrounds getting involved, we have had everything from local school pupils who are relatively new to the sport to ex internationalists attend and enjoy the sessions” The Volleyball for Scotland charity which was set up to help development the sport are thrilled with the initial progress and excited about potential growth across the country.
We are currently looking to expand the programme and would be happy to hear from Local Authorities, Sport Centres, Educational establishments and employers who may be keen to harness the power of Volleyball by adding a Dig It Session in their community. With discussions at an advanced stage it looks like we will have a few new sessions in Central Scotland in the coming weeks and also some new sessions in partnership with Scottish Student Sport but in the meantime check out the list of opportunities below –
