Aberdeen and South Grampian District Volleyball Association have introduced a Junior District League event for S1-S3 school pupils.
The sessions brought together over 36 boys and girls from 7 local schools.
Each session is open to all and free to enter. The events comprise a general fun warm up and then straight into matches. The 4 a side mixed teams play a series of matches which ranks the teams on the day the leading to some great competition and some very close games.
The event has been hailed a huge success by all those taking part. Ken Fraser (Volleyball Aberdeen) commented that ‘the development in personal and teamwork skills over these events has been remarkable. It is so rewarding to see the kids from different schools and clubs mixing together and enjoying volleyball.’
Looking to the future ASGDVA will build on this success encouraging young athletes from across Aberdeen City and Shire to come to the sessions and enjoy playing volleyball in a friendly and competitive environment.
A huge thank you to the International School of Aberdeen who generously hosted the events and to coaches Cory Amundrud (Banchory Volleyball Club) and Ken Fraser for organising the sessions.
