The Scottish Volleyball Association is proud to announce a formal partnership with our friends and colleagues at Scottish Student Sport.
The partnership seeks to build on the already strong relationship between the two national bodies, with the aim of further strengthening an already vibrant scene within the student game.
Scottish Student Volleyball currently caters for 318 male and 441 female students across 13 member institutions with solid engagement at a local, regional and national level.
The agreement details the key area of focus for the coming months and years – aiming to add value to the following areas of work:
• Competitions & Events
• Membership & Affiliations
• Club Development
• Workforce Development
• Raising the profile
The partnership was formally signed off by both Stew Fowlie, SSS Chief Operating Officer and Margaret Ann Fleming, SVA Chief Executive Officer.
Margaret Ann said ‘ Volleyball and SSS have for many years worked side by side to develop exciting, innovative, educational and above all fun programmes and competitions for SVA members and students both at university and college. This formal agreement only strengthens our shared vision for student sport and demonstrates to others that if you communicate, plan and deliver joint ventures in a partnership rather than in isolation, then there are rewards for all with more clubs, coaches, officials and players”
Both organisations are in planning mode ahead of the new academic year and are excited for future developments across the network.
Stew commented ‘Student Volleyball is a very special community, featuring dedicated and talented people, ambitious clubs and numerous opportunities to play, coach, officiate and lead. Our close friends at SVA have long been active supporters of the student game and we are delighted to now be formalising the existing links so as to work in a more integrated way. Through this exciting new partnership we have an opportunity to do even more for the future of the sport across Scotland’s Colleges and Universities.
