The SVA Referees Commission are pleased to announce they will be holding a Grade 4 Beach Volleyball Referees Course in St Andrews in conjunction with the Student Beach Championships.
The course instructor from the Referees Commission will be Candidate International Beach Referee Jamie Salvin, recently returned from refereeing in Australia.

Candidates will be expected to act in several Officiating roles during the afternoon session.
Candidates taking part in this course will require:
• whistle
• red & yellow cards
• cap
• waterproofs (it is Scotland)
• sunglasses
• pen & notepad
Candidates are also advised to download the Rule Text and the Casebook from the FIVB web site, and to have some knowledge of the rules in advance.
The day will be split into two sections. In the morning there will be theory followed by a short examination and then in the afternoon some practical training within the student beach volleyball championship tournament.
Beach Volleyball is a growing sport in this country and around the world and has just recently been a welcome addition to the Commonwealth Games 2018 to be held in Queensland, Australia.
This course will be an excellent opportunity for beginners or any volleyball referee keen to understand the beach game and work follow a career path through the grades (from 4 to International)
It is also the perfect opportunity for players wishing to play competition volleyball (especially on the National Tour or at international level) the chance to understand the rules in greater depth and to play with more confidence.
Perth will be hosting a CEV International Beach Volleyball tournament in June and this will be a perfect opportunity for anyone planning to be a part of this tournament to gain more knowledge and experience.
