Many thanks to everyone who attended the first regional development day on the 18th of January. It was fantastic to see so many athletes and clubs represented. This positive first response is a promise for the future of this new initiative.
The theme of the Regional Development Day 2 is ‘serve-receive’ and actions required from the passer to be successful. The identified age groups are for boys under 17 and for the girls under 16 in order to influence the numbers progressing into representation squads for the Sainsbury’s School Games. All levels of play are welcome. Designed to increase junior participation and to develop the coaching workforce, this pilot programme is eager to expand to more areas in the next year.
Every volleyball community possesses its own conventional wisdom. This day can offer an additional venue for coaches to communicate best practices and ideas. We are expecting coaches to interact, to share and develop knowledge, and to review their formal SVA coaching education notes on the theme of the day.
