NORTH GRAMPIAN DISTRICT VOLLEYBALL ASSOCIATION
“DROP IN” TOURNAMENT
A recreational “drop-in” volleyball tournament hosted by North Grampian District Volleyball Association and held at Forres House Community Centre on Saturday 25th October was supported by 18 players of varying ages and abilities.
Susan Armour was delighted to report that the tournament had been successful in attracting players from Keith, Buckie, Elgin, Lossiemouth, Forres and Inverness, which enabled the organisers to make up 4 teams of 4-aside on the day, with 2 players rotating on for service in the 2 teams of 5.
Each team played each other once in a “round robin” format, and the winning team of Mark Witkowski (formerly of Moray Volleyball Club), Dawn Ewen and Rob Burnett from Isla VC, Susan Armour from Forres House VC, and John Wigfield from Lossie VC received the prize of a box of chocolates each from Lorna Cresswell, local Moray councillor, who very kindly helped with time-keeping and organising on the day.
It is hoped to hold another tournament, perhaps again at Forres, in the very near future.
John Wigfield and Scott Wilson, both of Lossie VC, said they very much enjoyed the day and being novices to the game, found the opportunity to play in a competitive and fun environment very useful.
