City of Edinburgh Volleyball Club are pleased to announce the success of their recent Youth Development Training Camp. This new event was made possible by sponsorship from Lothian Heating Services which was also matched by Sportscotland’s Sportsmatch initiative.
The camp ran for three days 6th-8th June at Heriot-Watt University, and provided a valuable opportunity to make a real jump in level in particular areas of the game that is not possible in the same way at weekly training. Setting, spiking and and establishing a physical conditioning program for the players to continue over the summer wias the main focus over the weekend.
The attendance was by boys and girls from the under 15 teams of the club’s youth academy. Coaches Ian Brownlee and Nick Moody were delighted with the effort shown by everyone and the progress made:
“The boys and the girls who attended the camp worked very hard and made excellent progress in their spiking, setting, defence and physical conditioning. The improvement in the level of their volleyball over the 3 days was encouraging to see. Hopefully the boys and girls also had a lot of fun over the 3 days, especially at the camp tournament on the Sunday afternoon!”
