Saturday 22nd June sees the annual King and Queen of the Beach titles up for grabs. This one is always hotly contested and sees the best all-round players battling it out on the golden sands of the famous West Sands, St Andrews.
The King and Queen of the Beach is a unique event in the beach volleyball calendar in that you only need yourself to enter. Everyone enters by themselves and plays in pools of (usually) 4 players. Players play in pairs with everyone in their pool against the other 2, amassing points for themselves along the way. The top points scorers progress into the next round, the others play in playoff pools.
There’s lots of volleyball during the day and it’s a great opportunity to play with some top players and learn loads about yourself and about the game of beach volleyball.
We are planning to have a beach party afterwards and then a mixed 2-a-side and 4-a-side tournament on the Sunday.
