In front of an enthusiastic crowd at ExCeL that included friends, family and East End royalty, the Great Britain women’s sitting volleyball team marked their arrival on the Paralympic stage.
Inspired by the Olympics, (and no doubt the two-piece playing kit) this years annual Brodick Beach BBQ on Arran saw the addition of a beach volleyball competition which attracted at least a dozen teams of three.
Britain’s men fought hard against Russia in their opening sitting volleyball match of the London 2012 Paralympic Games, but despite raucous support from the ExCeL South Hall crowd, they lost in three sets to the Beijing bronze medallists.
