The SVA Referees Commission ran a Grade II course alongside the John Kurtz Memorial Tournament in Kilmarnock on 17 September 2011. Tutored by International Referee Grant MacIntyre, the four candidates were put through their paces as first and second referee after the morning had started with a theoretical session. All four candidates reached the standard required for Grade II, they were: Brian Gaw and Martin McMullan from Kilmarnock VC, Robert Micaul-Enauf and Iain Parker from South Ayrshire VC.
On 13 August 2011, four referees successfully reached Grade II at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility where they refereed at the UK Schools Games preparation tournament under the watchful eye of International Referees Grant MacIntyre and John Swan. The candidates were Dave Cormie, Laura McReady (both Su Ragazzi VC), Claire Brennan (South Ayrshire VC) and Martyn Johnstone (Jets VC).
Congratulations to all eight referees, the Referees Commission hope to see them progress to even higher levels in the future.”
