Scottish Volleyball’s key in-service course for teachers heads North!
‘Volleyball – the perfect vehicle for developing a Curriculum for Excellence’
The Scottish Volleyball Association’s Curriculum for Excellence CPD course is aimed at providing practical advice and solutions for Physical Education Teachers on using Volleyball to achieve the practices and outcomes of a Curriculum for Excellence, and in September 2011 the course heads North.
This innovative and challenging course, which is being presented in association with Aberdeenshire Council, will be held at the Gordon Schools in Huntly on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th September 2011. The move to take this course out of the Central Belt is part of Scottish Volleyball’s continuing commitment to developing the sport across the country.
The course will be mainly practical, and will address the issues associated with using the skills and experiences of Volleyball to develop;
• Successful learners
• Confident individuals
• Responsible individuals
• Effective contributors
The course will also provide information on the structure and content of a volleyball curriculum, and aim to identify and develop the key steps for performance enhancement. The course is part of the Scottish Volleyball Association’s Continuous Professional Development menu.
The course content will include the following key elements
• Developing decision making skills
• Developing physical literacy
• The development of passing abilities
• The development of attacking skills
• Game themes
o linkage
o rhythm
o offence and defence
