Scottish Volleyball’s Annual General Meeting 2011 was held on Friday 27th May 2011 at Bell’s Sport Centre in Perth.
The Scottish Volleyball Association celebrated with its members, volunteers, Board and staff all that has been positively reflected and achieved over the past twelve months.
The meeting was chaired by our SVA President, Mr Jim Berryman and you were represented in the meeting with the Vice-President Mel Coutts; Marketing and Communication Director, Raymond McHugh; SVA Finance Officer, Ailien Pallot; and me, Margaret Ann Fleming, Chief Executive Officer.
There were Board apologies from Scott Borthwick and Sandy Steel who were both out of the country, with Sandy delivering an FIVB referee’s development conference in Thailand.
Along with the 50 strong members present, there were 18 apologies sent to the SVA office and all SVA staff attended the evening.
Main points:
-
“Items of Special Business” from the membership; none were presented for discussion.
-
Scottish Volleyball’s 2010/11 Annual Report was well received with questions taken from the floor. This report shall be available on the SVA website as from Monday 6th June 2011
-
17 awards were recognised. From club teams and National league winners to volunteers, coaches and outstanding contributions to Scottish Volleyball for the past 12 months
-
Mel Coutts and Sandy Steel were re-elected onto the SVA Board and Michelle Paterson was duly elected after a hotly contested election. Special mention to Jenni Lloyd who narrowly missed out on Board representation.
I felt the meeting had a real sense of combined purpose with a positive atmosphere given from those there representing your organisation. All contributed enthusiastically and on reflection it is easy for me to recognise how we will and can make Scottish Volleyball – “Bigger, Better and Stronger”
I would like to thank SOVT and David Munro for supporting our AGM once more within the yearly Scottish Volleyball Open; the SVA Board and staff and those members who gave up their precious time to attend. Thank you.
Finally the SVA have changed the face of its website with a Team GB wrap around highlighting the growing anticipation of the London 2012 Olympics and our Scottish involvement in all three disciplines. We hope you like it and all the new and fresh initiatives being unveiled within our marketing and communication strategy for 2012 and beyond.
