Tile Deciders………….One done and dusted, one still to win!
Men’s Schelde 1st Division winners
Glasgow Mets VC were triumphant 3-0, 3-0 winners throughout last weekend’s Schelde National League play-offs.
The first leg was held at Gorbals Leisure Centre as the Glasgow Mets home venue, with the return match at St Joseph’s Secondary school in Kilmarnock, home venue for the Kilmarnock Blaze.
Both games were highly competitive, however through the strong team work of Glasgow Mets and their determination to close out every point, it duly saw this team become worthy winners of the SVA Schelde 1st division title.
This prestigious win also means that Glasgow Mets shall be the first men’s club team to represent Scottish Volleyball at the Celtic Cup Club competition, being held in Belfast, Northern Ireland on the 22nd of May 2011…………..well done to the club, the team and all those who make the club tick!!
The women’s championship is still in the balance with a final third and deciding match to be held at South Queensferry High School, this coming Saturday, 16th April 2011.
The first match was won on home turf by City of Edinburgh and the second leg hotly fought and decided upon in Troon with Troon, Prestwick and Ayr, taking the honours.
Details of times and confirmation of venue arrangements for the women’s 1st Division final to follow so keep an eye on your site and sign up to the SVA blog for immediate notifications.
Finally it has been a tough and rewarding season for everyone from players, teams, officials, Commissions and staff; the leagues are nearly completed and the Cup Finals on 14th and 15th May 2011 are only a few weeks away.
Well done again to Glasgow Mets VC for their fantastic win this weekend past. Good luck for the women’s final next Saturday and if you can, come along and support.
A full report shall be publicised of all league winners and play-off winners once all matches in all divisions have been completed
