This summer Marr College Volleyball offered 3 weeks of camps allowing the players to apply to train and develop skills at the appropriate level.
Camp 1- Wednesday 29th July Thursday 30th and finish Friday 31st July.
Camp 1 was aimed at Junior from S1 – S3 and U16 Junior National League (13 – 15 years old). The event took place over 3 sports halls with 36 applicants all enthusiastic to improve. This camp inghelped develop the skills for 4 aside and present the themes for 6 aside Junior Naitonal League. Three very successful days of Volleyball involving coaching staff Martin Blacklaws, Jess and John Reid and a guest day by Sandra Grubb.
Camp 2 – Monday 3rd August – Thursday 6th August – 4 Days
Camp 2 was aimed at Primary 7 induction to Marr and S1 mini volleyball which is the traditional Primary Camp that introduces the new intake to Volleyball. There were 66 excited new volleyballers whom most have never experienced volleyball before and had a fantastic time. We hope that many of these enthusiastic newcomers will return to Volleyball when the new school session takes up.
This camp was staffed by John Reid and Graeme Houston – Jess Reid and Laura Forbes. Again we had a guest appearance from Sandra Grubb on day 3.
Camp 3 – Senior Camp – Monday 10th August – Wednesday 12th August
This camp was aimed at the development of the Girls U16 & U19 Junior National League Teams and the Boys U19 Junior Naitonal league team. 36 Girls and 10 boys attend this camp.
This camp was a major improvement from our camps in the past – the three groups were able to work in 3 full court facility halls and each group was able to develop skills and game strategies appropriate to their level. All players enjoyed the camp and felt that they had taken another leap forward in their Volleyball lives.
Coaching staff for this camp were Martin Blacklaws, Vince Krawczyk, Graeme Houston, John Reid, Sandra Grubb and Jess Reid.
All players are looking forward to the new season and would like to thank the coaching staff again – Jess and John Reid would like to thank all of the guest coaches for their coaching time, enthusiasm, support and commitment to the Marr College Camps.
